This past winter I had a pipe break between my upstairs tenant and downstairs. The sound of rushing water coming from my ceiling is a sound I never ever want to hear again. On first contact with promutual I was in a complete panic. Mariel calmed me down and assured me that she could have an emergency team at the house within hours and did. They then gave me three choices . number one was to do the work myself. number two was to hire my own contractor and number three was to use their contractor. I chose to use their contractor for which I have absolutely no regrets. He was honest fair and professional . Stephan did things I would never have thought to do to guarantee no mold. From the drying out process to the final finishing everything was done to and above my satisfaction. There are of course some costs involved in any insurance claim and I understood these costs. Number one : the repair of the pipe was my responsibility. Number 2: there is a course the insurance deductible. Number 3: insurance companies do not make modifications, they repair the damage thus anything you want to change you pay for. All three of these conditions were understood and made clear. They even sent me a final settlement check for the extra electricity used for the drying out process which I never questioned or asked for. All in all it was a fair and good settlement and I felt that I was in good hands all the way.
